[42 N.Y.2d 1027 Page 1027] Appeal from an order of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Fourth Judicial Department, entered July 2, 1976, which (1) reversed an order of the Supreme Court at Special Term (Thomas J. O'Donnell, J.), entered in Erie County, denying motions by defendants to dismiss the complaint, (2) granted the motions, and (3) dismissed the complaint. The action was commenced by hourly employees of an automobile plant to recover for wages lost when the plant was shut down because of a disruption in electrical service, which occurred when an explosion at a plant operated by defendant FMC Corporation (FMC) allegedly caused damage to a power generating station operated by defendant Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (Niagara Mohawk).
